Leafhopper - Graphogonalia evagorata

Leafhopper - Graphogonalia evagorata
Bentsen RGV State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
July 29, 2012
Size: ~5 mm
Must be Graphocephala or closely related, but couldn't find a match. On Turk's cap, Malvaviscus arboreus.

interesting ID
Graphocephala rufimargo doesn't look like this
https://naturalhistory.museumwales.ac.uk/sharpshooters/browserecord.php?-recid=604
Consequently, no Graphocephala looks like this.

Perhaps the lateral angle makes it confusing, so here's a perfect dorsal of an individual which I believe to be conspecific from southern Texas:

The other "Graphocephala rufimargo" on bugguide is also consistent in markings.

I see no reason to believe these are anything other than Graphogonalia

Moved
Yes, thanks John. Moved from Free-living Hemipterans.

Nicely done!
Collect it?

Thanks
Unfortunately, it hopped away right after this shot.

Graphocephala rufimargo
This is a new record for the USA, although it is a species widespread in Mexico. Blame it on recent hot weather?

Awesome.
Thanks Dr. Hamilton. Very cool. Is rufimargo in the subgenus Graphocephala?
