Blue-eyed dragonfly - Pachydiplax longipennis

Blue-eyed dragonfly - Pachydiplax longipennis
Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County, New York, USA
July 31, 2012
Size: about 2 inches
This dragonfly perched horizontally and kept returning to the same perch. A remarkable feature is the different colored stigma on the fore and rear wings. It was stubbier than most dragonflies I see. The area where I saw it was a dry sandy field with a couple of small ponds nearby.

Blue Dasher
I'm not an expert, but I don't think the different stigmas are an identifying feature. They do look cool, though!
