Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA

I spotted this strange bee or fly this morning on some flowers. If anyone can identify this insect, I would really appreciate it.

Moved from Scaly Bee Fly.

Moved from Lepidophora.

Hunchback bee fly, I think
Genus Lepidophora. Compare:

I was off on a wrong track browsing clearwing moths for a while, but I knew I'd seen this somewhere on the pages before, and when I did a search on hunchback this popped up.

Great match
Great match, Hannah. Looking at those "scales" at the end of the abdomen, I too, was reminded of Clearwing Moths.

Ilona: "what Hannah said." An interesting find! Keep them coming.

Robber Fly
Looks like a Robber Fly to me. "Furrier" than your average Robber Fly, and the antennae are longer than those of the average Robber too. Nevertheless I think that is what you have here. I hope someone else will weigh in too.
