Euodynerus?
Matches quite well with Euodynerus post below from nearby Santa Clara:



However, the specimen in the thumbnail above has two yellow (lateral) spots on the scutellum that are lacking on my specimen above.

Interestingly, those two yellow spots are present on the 2nd wasp post I made from the same locale and afternoon:



In the field, I thought these two wasps might be the same species. But in addition to the two yellow spots on the scutellum, the 2nd wasp in the thumbnail above had a densely hairy thorax & head, unlike the 1st wasp in the main post here.

I wonder if my two posts are members of the same variable taxon or are different species?
