It was on a tree with sap, with other wasps and insects.

That looks really close.
I must have skipped over that species because of all the brown ones when I was hunting for the design on the thorax.
It could be the photo angles, but it looks like this one and the black ones in the guide have a bigger spur on the middle leg than the brown ones. The
cressoni
subspecies is
supposed to be blacker
, but its range is the northeast and east coast.

But...
P. interruptus
is also extremely variable and I have captured both the nominate subspecies and
cressoni
-type specimens in Ohio. I don't put a whole lot of stock in the subspecies designations for this species.
