And yes, this moth usually stands on its head!

Maybe S. unicornis?
This is a very colorful example, and would seem to be a candidate for the more widespread Unicorn Caterpillar Moth. I'm finding no definitive info on how to separate them; I'll try to dredge up Dyar's original description of errucata.
