Mutillid Wasp, pseudomethoca oculata? or a dasymutilla sp?

Not Pseudomethocha oculata?
I thought the two ligher spots on the first segments of the abdomen make it Pseudomethocha oculata?

Spots are not good for separating genera
and not always species either. Both Dasymutilla and Pseudomethoca females can have spots in that area. Most Dasymutilla in Florida have spots there.

The shape of the mesosoma (thorax) and condition of the first metasomal (abdominal) segment, constricted and not sessile, make this Dasymutilla. Also, there is a tubercle just behind the eye, which could mean it is Dasymutilla quadriguttata. D. chattahoochei is another possibility since it looks like the head itself could be angulate behind the eye.

Dorsal views are the best for mutillids -- do you have any more photos of this one?

Mr. Wolgemuth
I have spent the better part of the past year cataloging and photographing wasps and other insects. Dr. James Wiley at Florida Museum of Entomology was helping me identify the hymenoptera but I he is very busy and I have a lot to identify. The past few months I have shot a lot of unidentified hymenoptera and I wanted to thank you for taking the time to help get them keyed. I really love studying wasps and very much appreciate your help and wanted to let you know.
Thank You Much
