Common Whitetail (female) - Plathemis lydia

Common Whitetail (female) - Plathemis lydia
Carbondale, Jackson County, Illinois, USA
August 8, 2012
This specimen persistently landed on these concrete garden blocks. Was it attracted to warmth?
When it landed, the wings were lowered in 3 or 4 ratchet-like movements, as if the wings were "notched".

Moved
Moved from Dragonflies.

female
