ID for a Florida panhandle yellow butterly? - Pyrisitia lisa
Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, USA
August 7, 2012
This yellow butterfly was visiting these little flowers in the grass on the side of Bauer Rd. (S.R. 293) near the entrance to the Wet Prairie Trail in the Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park. It was not very cooperative in staying still for a photograph, but I hope these are good enough to tell something about its identity. Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Thanks! This is the first BugGuide report from the Florida panhandle.

Looks like a Little Yellow to me -
Eurema lisa in Glassberg (2001), but I just noticed that this is now in genus Pyrisitia. Though most are supposed to have a pink spot at HW apex, there are some without. But yours does have the two small black spots at the HW base.
I could be wrong, we'll see what others say.
Take a look at this page of live photos from FL at Butterflies of America.

Seems likely
The photos do look similar except of the pink spot, so Little Yellow seems like a possibility. The location is also consistent with its range. I’ll be curious to see what others say.
