Scymnus (Pullus), possibly S. tenebrosus
Did you make a note of the size of this beetle? Using a key only, it seems likely to be S. tenebrosus, but I want to check the extended description in Gordon's Scymnini reference before making a call.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't resemble anything I see here in c. TX. tenebrosus is apparently fairly common (555 spmns) and the other options Gordon (1976) sites are a poor fit...
