American Carrion Beetle Larva - Necrophila americana

Size: 23 mm
Found under a (very decayed) fetal pig used in a forensics demonstration. (The pig, incidentally, was the result of natural mortality in a breeding facility.) Several individuals were captured, chilled, and posed for photos. Some were later reared to adulthood.
