Petrophila santafealis?
How are these two separated?

Petrophila
Originally I believe it was simply that santafealis had much more brown scaling, however, that info might be outdated. I noticed most of the other "jaliscalis" in Arizona would fit the aforementioned santafealis description better, if that were correct. This is something definitely worth looking into and maybe seeing if Brian Scholtens can add to.

.
Thank you Jason, I have always thought the brown scaling was significant too, but that is not reflected in the placing of this Genus here on BG in Arizona. I am posting to this photo so I will hear the same thing you all do from Brian. Before I looked up this photo, I had already made my comments on . Please correct me where I am wrong.

Probably 4775 - Parargyractis jaliscalis
After sharpening focus and contrast I think this photo compares very favorably with that of the spread specimen shown below. I'll send this to Brian Scholtens in the hope that he can confirm the ID.

Petrophila (=Parargyractis) jaliscalis
Would you be willing to look at http://bugguide.net/node/view/319963 and see if you think it may be this species? Your help will be much appreciated.

Looks good
I agree with this ID as well. Once again, the hind wing markings seem quite distinctive for Parargyractis jaliscalis as well as the post median forewing markings. I'll move this to species page, and as noted before, it looks like we've been going with the Petrophila synonym for the genus here on BG rather than Parargyractis. It seems both are still being equally used amongst various sources, so I'll go with the flow of the guide unless there is a BG consensus to change it.

Agreed
It looks like Parargyractis jaliscalis to me.

Sharpening
I would like to replace this photo with a sharpened one. What's the best way to do this without losing the Reply text?

I Had To Try It To Be Sure....
...just edit the page and "browse" to select a new photo. I don't know if the old photo gets tossed out or stays on the server. You can replace my version of your photo if you wish to.

tribe Argyractini
I think it's either a species of Eoparargyractis or some kind of Petrophila; looks a bit different than anything in the Guide so far.
