Northern Burdock Borer - Hodges#9471 (Papaipema arctivorens) - Papaipema

Northern Burdock Borer - Hodges#9471 (Papaipema arctivorens) - Papaipema
Ogemaw County, Michigan, USA
August 15, 2012

Moved from Northern Burdock Borer.

Pretty certain this is actually pterisii, but it may be lysimachiae.

if you're not 100% certain, please refrain from moving my photos. Thank you.

Not arctivorens
I moved it off of the arctivorens species page and onto the Papaipema genus page because I am 100% certain this is NOT arctivorens, and I want to make sure the species page doesn't have misidentified specimens on it. (arctivorens would have smaller, more rounded, more offset orbicular and claviform spots, a curved PM line, a different pattern of white around the reniform spot, and generally more heavy dusting of red scales) It is certainly one of the other Papaipema species though, so it should stay on the genus page with the other unidentified Papaipemas until someone can confirm which of the other species it is. (pterisii and lysomachiae can be very difficult to distinguish, but a Papaipema expert should be able to tell you which this is. It's definitely one of those two.) :)
