Ants tending leafhoppers on goldenrod - Formica ulkei

These ants were tending leafhoppers (Publilia concava) on goldenrod growing around the shoreline of a pond. Best guesses are Camponotus novaeboracensis or Formica ulkei. Not sure how to tell the difference. I also noticed what looked like a collection of the same species, though smaller bodied crawling all over the head of some flowering swamp milkweed nearby.

Please crop your images as close to "just the bug" as possible. Only you and the editors can see the full-size image. Everyone else is left looking at tiny bugs in a lot of unnecessary background. :)
