Dasytinae? - Trichochrous sordidus

Dasytinae? - Trichochrous sordidus
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
July 2, 2012
This tiny beetle was spotted on Jimson Weed (Datura wrightii) at the Claremont Colleges’ Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station. I think it’s a soft-winged flower beetle in subfamily Dasytinae. I know a few species it’s not, but that still leaves a lot of possibilities! I don’t know if it’s possible to get a more specific identification, but just confirmation of subfamily would be great.
