Large black / Grey Spider caught outside in my field. - Hogna carolinensis

Size: apx. body: 2"L x 0.5"W -
This guy is really big. i woudl say that the leg span (filling the bottom of a large mason jar) is 4"W x 3"W. not sure if its a baby taranchula. i have more photos if you think you might know what it is. your help would be apriciated. Tahnk you.

Hogna carolinensis?
Definitely a wolf spider. Is this the same spider as in this image you also posted?

Looks like a Hogna to me, and if so, I think the black venter makes this H. carolinensis.

Wolf Spider?
I think this is a Wolf Spider (Lycosidae). I don't know which genus though, one of the experts might be able to narrow it down further.

It turns out i have a positive i.d. on it now and it was a wolf spider. i had heard that they got big, but i had no idea. thanks for your help.
