Wow! I was just stunned when
Wow! I was just stunned when I clicked on this image!! Yes, I haven't seen every last photo of a male spider's palps there is - BUT this is the most detailed sharp & detailed photo f one Ivever seen! Really, I'm blown away by this. What camera, & more importantly, what lens did you use? And I assume that you stacked a number of images?

for the high praise! My equipment is not sophisticated, and any DSLR + kit lens should produce identical results. I'm using a Sony A65 camera body with the 18-55mm kit lens mounted in reverse. This shot was stacked from 3-4 images I think. I had the spider immobilized between a towel and the clear plastic from a CD case so that his palps could be photographed without hurting him.
