Acronicta sp. - Acronicta clarescens

Acronicta sp. - Acronicta clarescens
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
August 18, 2012
Size: 22 mm lgth
At outdoor light. An Acronicta. The small tan-orangish area of the thorax on its left side might suggest Acronicta morula but it is too far off center to qualify as being part of its thorax marking. Maybe the distinct black circle in the renal spot area provides a clue.

Great!
Thank you for confirming Doug's suggestion. The moth now joins my clarescens caterpillar that was IDed for me in May!

My sincere apologies to Chris
My sincere apologies to Chris for thanking "Doug" instead of him in my original comment for the helpful suggestion. I had another post in mind when I wrote my piece.

Maybe
The characteristic brown thorax spot seems to be too far off center, but I like your choice and thank you for looking at it and make a suggestion. Perhaps it will elicit a comment - whatever it will be!
