Ants Swarming Rodent - Formica ulkei
Strawberry Lake Recreation Area, Turtle Mountain State Forest, Bottineau County, North Dakota, USA

I found these after hearing the squeaks by the rodent. I have no idea what was going on, if the rodent had been previously injured, or if the ants initiated the attack.

It seems quite certain to me that the rodent was already moribund when the ants attacked.
