Argiope? is there a comprehensive book on North American/Canadian spiders with great pictures? Most books appear to have usually only 10-12 common varieties? thanks

Moved from Spiders. I'm not sure if this is A. saevus or A. nordmanni. They can both look pretty similar. I'd like to leave it a genus level for now.

Unfortunately I can't help you with the book, but this spider is an orb weaver in genus Araneus. Perhaps A. saevus:

or A. normanni:
