Orange lady beetle - larger - Harmonia axyridis

Orange lady beetle - larger - Harmonia axyridis
Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA
September 9, 2004
The markings are in the same place as on the red-colored harmonia species in the guide - is this just a variation, or a different species?

Harmonia coloration
Harmonia axyridis is a highly variable species. Its color can range from light tan to hot reddish-pink, and the number of spots varies tremendously, too. Some animals may even be black, with red spots. A lot of the variation depends on how much sun the animal is exposed to between the time they emerge from their pupa to the time their exoskeleton hardens. It may also depend on the time of the year and which generation they belong to.
