Apodemia virgulti? - Apodemia virgulti

Apodemia virgulti? - Apodemia virgulti
Tejon Ranch, Kern County, California, USA
August 21, 2012
I believe this is a member of the Mormon metalmark complex. According to the Kaufman butterfly guide I have, there are upwards of 4 species that occur in Kern county. I am tempted to call this a Behr's (A. virgulti) due to the orange band on the upper hindwing, but would love to hear others' opinions. Thanks!

In the rather simplistic treatment here at BugGuide,
yes, that would be correct. Some of the more recent literature has quite a confusing jumble of names for the s. California Metalmarks though.
