Ripiphorus rex vs.

Ripiphorus rex vs. "Myodites knausi" = "Rhipiphorus vierecki" - Ripiphorus - Male Female
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
April 25, 1927
!!!NOTE: For detailed comments, please see the last image in this series!!!

Specimens from the California Academy of Sciences collection labelled as Rhipiphorus knausi Pierce (original 1920 description, as Myodites knausi, here), which was treated as a junior synonym for Rhipiphorus vierecki in the later references by Rivnay(1)(1929) and Linsley & MacSwain(2)(1951).

I'm posting these in reference to the discussions on this forum relating to the distinctions (if any) between R. vierecki (=M. vierecki Fall, 1907) and R. rex Champion, 1891.
