Quoting from SINA: "Brown, sedentary crickets with hindwings shorter than forewings; foretibia with anterior tympanum but without posterior one."

Range

H. agitator: widespread in southeast

H. brevipennis: more restricted to southeastern states

H. melodius: restricted to southern Florida
