Syrphidae, Syrphid Fly,Pseudodoros clavatus, ID Please - Dioprosopa clavata - Female
Skidaway Island, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, USA
August 17, 2012
This Syrphid Fly was nectaring on Dill. It appears to be identical to the previous P. clavatus species that I have submitted to BG; however, the coloration is darker. The wing venation appears identical to that of the genus Pseudodoros. ID please and clarification on the color variations within the species, if this is accurate. Thank you.
