Any other angles?
Did you get a dorsal shot by any chance? I'm thinking this looks like a Neoscona ventral.

thanks for the help

Neoscona crucifera?
The second photo sort of shows the pattern on the abdomen and its pretty indistinct, so I'd guess N. crucifera. A number of spines look white in the second and third as well. I was thinking arabesca due to everything seeming black in the first shot.

One of our other editors, Laura, knows these better than I do. She may be able to confirm or correct me. :)

Nice images, btw - love the backgrounds!

Laura...thanks for the help
i just added an extreme close up...i would say its pretty darn close to the photo

...
OK, Neoscona crucifera it is then. :)

....
I guess we should just ask if this is a match.

Ed, does the spider in Kyron's link look the same as the one you saw or did yours have some white on the abdomen?

...
I think it's a Neoscona crucifera but I don't know whether or not we should move the photos there because I'm not sure enough without seeing a little bit more of the abdomen.

....
I wonder in situations like these whether it's best to move to the genus page (I think we're safe in thinking this is Neoscona at least), or to Araneae so everyone else can see it more easily?
