Leaf-footed bug (Leptoglossus phyllopus) nymph? Anderson, Anderson County, South Carolina, USA September 1, 2012
Yesterday and today there were several of these on one green tomato. Since 12 days ago I photographed an adult Leaf-footed Bug (Leptoglossus phyllopus) on the same tomato plant, I assume these nymphs are of the same species. They are alert and circle to the far side of the fruit when approached with a camera, like a squirrel on a tree trunk. They appear to act in concert, forming a perimeter around the tomato's stalk.
