5 or 6 banded sphinx moth caterpillar - Hyles lineata
Cochiti Lake , Sandoval County, New Mexico, USA
August 31, 2012
Size: 3 inches
I notice these thistle flowers moving in the last gasp of dusk and I knew it was a moth. I set up on a flower and waited for the movement and took the shot.

Moved
Moved from Achemon Sphinx.

Not the same moth
These moth photos are NOT even the same species as your caterpillar, so you shouldn't link them. The moth is a White-lined Sphinx.

I have a shot of a white line
I have a shot of a white lined sphinx at rest in my gallery. I also have two photos of live moths in the Moth Photographers group. It was the pink underwing that threw me off. How about NOT yelling? I've been observing nature since I became aware of my surroundings but I'm NOT overboard on the IDing by scientific names of animals. That's why I post on and recommend this wonderful site. Thanks for pointing out that I was wrong.
