Cat parasitoid - Cotesia

Cat parasitoid - Cotesia
Churchville Nature Center, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 29, 2012
Size: Cat. 13mm. Parasitoid 3mm
Found two caterpillars on red bud on 8/25/12. They are Hyphantria cunea. One is healthy and growing; the other one turned out to have a parasitoid. It pupated a few days later.
It is the parasitoid I am interested in.

Moved from Microgastrinae.

Braconid perhaps…
The cocoon resembles those made by Microgastrinae, a group that sometimes targets the fall webworm. We'll soon see, I guess.
