The Soldier Flies or Stratiomyidae of California
By James, M. T.
University of California Press, 1960
This work is available for download as a PDF file by clicking this link. Technical, but (with patience and perseverance) helpful for working on California Stratiomyidae. Some comments: [list]
  • There are keys to California genera and species...but they are not complete as known and recognized by the author in 1960: the Euparyphus-Aocletus complex appears in couplet 16 of the key to genera, but is not discussed further; and the subfamily Pachygastrinae is not treated). Also, genus Odontomyia is treated under the name Eulalia.

  • Three new species of diptera
    By Greene, Charles T
Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington, volume 20, on pages 69-71, 1918
descriptions of Myxosargus nigricormis, as well as Madiza conicola and Chrysotoxum coloradensis

ITIS says Madiza conicola is a junior synonym of Hapleginella conicola and that Chrysotoxum coloradense is an invalid junior synonym of Chrysotoxum fasciatum. There’s no ITIS listing for Chrysotoxum coloradensis as it’s spelled in the original paper.
