Harvester butterfly larvae - Feniseca tarquinius

Harvester butterfly larvae - Feniseca tarquinius
Mohican State Park, Ashland County, Ohio, USA
August 30, 2012
After decades of searching, I finally found my first Harvester butterfly caterpillars on a Wooly Aphid infested Beech tree. Finding this cluster of Harvesters was like hitting the motherload! I have no idea how many individuals are in this cluster, but I'd guess close to a dozen.

I'll try not to post too many images, but if you're interested you can see more on my Flickr site:

I couldn't believe my eyes...
Aren't they cute? They look like cuddly little Pussy Willows (Tribbles, if you prefer.) :-)
