Fall armyworm egg mass - Spodoptera frugiperda

A closer view of the egg mass in the accompanying photo [laid on the upperside of a soybean (Glycine max) leaflet by a laboratory-reared adult female]. Abdominal setae and scales have been removed to reveal the eggs inside. Approximately 9X life size (photographed at 8X life size and cropped ~10–15%)—see Life at 8X—Guide to lepidopteran eggs on soybean for details.
