Cicurina - female

Cicurina - Female
Cowichan Valley, British Columbia, Canada
September 1, 2012
Size: ~8mm body length
Found under some plastic around the side of the house. Unfortunately she wasn't very cooperative and kept moving around, so I didn't get many decent shots.

I think I've resolved the reflection issues with the epigynum shots for the most part, so I'm hopeful we can get a more definite ID than with the other Cicurinas I've submitted. This one seems to be a good match for the C. simplex diagrams on p. 25 of Exline 1936? Particularly 19a.

This belongs to the C. idahoana group. Most people would probably just call it C. idahoana, that being the only described member of the group. I distinguish 4 species in the group of which this would be either #1 or #2 - hard to tell which without knowing the exact (in hundredths of a mm) width of the epigynal plate.

C. idahoana
Thanks, that was unexpected! Where in the epigynum image would the measurement for the epigynal plate need to be made? I know the exact magnification I took it at, and have a set of calipers accurate to hundredths of a mm, so I should be able to find out. At least, once I get a new battery for them...

Edit: Nevermind the calipers, any small object of known exact dimensions should do.

Yes
