Another Caterpillar ID request - Helicoverpa zea

Another Caterpillar ID request - Helicoverpa zea
Davis, Yolo County, California, USA
September 4, 2012
Size: ~4 cm long
This caterpillar was found in a vegetable basket from UCD, the veggies in this basket were corn, basil, parsley, string beans, okra, tomatillo, tomatoes, potatoes, figs, and various peppers. Seeing the pinkish colorings and going off what I was told in my last caterpillar observation which successfully turned into a moth I thought this might do the same.
Instead it hasn't eaten anything I tried to give it or turned into a cocoon and has lost its pinkish coloring...any ideas what I should feed it?
And the first picture I feel shows the colors best.

Helicoverpa zea?
Like shotguneddie suggested in the third image, Helicoverpa zea looks close, any confirmations/corrections?

Food
Maybe it needs the leaves of one of those vegetables.

I've...
collected a bunch more leaves of what I could find, hopefully one of those works...if not I will try to find the others tomorrow.
