Small bee (Sweat bee?)
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
August 19, 2012
Size: 5 mm?
Found on a fennel flower in our backyard. I suspect it's a sweat bee, but after a couple hours searching I can't find anything with these reddish eyes.

Pteromalid…
The well-armoured metallic greenish bronze body, a short pronotum, a wide mesoscutum, fine sculpturization, five-segmented tarsi, and wing venation all point to this group. This one's just trying to get a bit of nectar from the fennel flower.

here.

I think it is a parasitic Hymenoptera ...
... looks like the family Pteromalidae, although there isn't enough detail for me to be 100% sure.
