Moved
Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Why?
I am new to this website and was wondering why the photo was moved from ID request and not identified.

Check the forums on where to post various species.
The idea is to get your find into the section where experts prefer to look for that particular critter. The editor has moved your fly to Family level, so that is a partial ID and one that gets you closer to a final solution. Generally, you'll get results quicker this way, plus it relieves congestion in the ID Request section.

While awaiting an answer, you may want to go to Images tab in this section and see if you can locate your fly there. I'm a bit rusty on these - there are two with a similar look and Meredon is one. (I've forgotten the other.) Look at the fly overall, then check wing veins, and use the Info tab as yet another aid.

Also, check the Help tab for basic site info; it's sort of a mini manual.

Good hunting!

Thanks
Thanks for the explanation.

My pleasure!
Always glad to help, but I'm not here often. This is a wonderful site! Feel free to email me with questions.
