Moved from
Water-lily Beetle
.
Moved to new genus per comments, not to species. The leaf reminds me of holly rather than cherry or azalea. The beetle may not be on its host plant.

Tricholochmaea cf rufosanguinea
This one is now in Tricholochmeae; the species referred to is now called Tricholochmaea cavicollis; however it could also be T. sanguinea
Pronotum and elytra densely punctate and dull; venter and legs, red and black; on Azalea spp. 1 T. rufosanguinea (Say)
Pronotum coarsely, less closely punctate; shining; antennae; tibiae, tarsi, usually black or dark brown; on cherry. 2 T. cavicollis (Leconte)
from your photo I would go with rufosanguinea; your specimen is not shiny to me and the tibiae are red and black rather than all dark
If you remember the host, that would realy help

Chrysomelidae: Galerucella cavicollis
Very cute little dude. Very close match in Dillon and Dillon, plate LXX #14. Galerucella cavicollis, 4-6 mm, Dark reddish, tibiae and tarsi sometimes black, which shows in your photo nicely. There is also a depression on each side of the pronotum, matching your photo very nicely. They say adults found on wild cherry. Other parts of description match your photo: elytra coarsely punctate, sparsely, finely pubescent. Looks good enough for me.
NCSU just has one specimen in the genus:

G. nymphaeae, illustrated in D&D, not similar to your photo.
