Trichopoda pennipes? - Trichopoda pennipes

Trichopoda pennipes? - Trichopoda pennipes
Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
September 9, 2012
Size: 1cm
This has the solid dusky wings of the female Trichopoda pennipes but lacks the "abdominal tip black" per the description. Still, it looks right. Can someone confirm?

Moved from Tachinidae.

Tachinidae: Trichopoda sp.
Tachinidae: Trichopoda sp. This is probably T. pennipes. Species of Trichopoda are quite variable in coloration. The genus really needs to be revised.

Moved from ID Request.

Trichopoda
This is indeed a Trichopoda sp. and not Gymnosoma as suggested below.

Your Trichopoda
Henry, have a look at Gymnosoma on bug guide.
