Haldeman's Shieldback Katydid - Pediodectes haldemanii - Male
Amistad National Recreation Area, Val Verde County, Texas, USA

Size: 3 cm
This big katydid was in the brushy Chihuahuan Desert near the Mexican border. He looks like some kinds of Mormon Crickets I have seen in Washington, but not quite.
