Spider from Goldenrod - Araneus marmoreus - female

Spider from Goldenrod - Araneus marmoreus - Female
Sharon, Windsor County, Vermont, USA
August 12, 2006
Size: ~12mm
I saw a "nest" in a goldenrod plant made by stitching some leaves together. I peeled back one leaf and this nice plump spider dropped into my hand and then onto a Queen Anne's Lace bloom. Larger view here.

eye arrangement
This image is being used in the eye arrangement article, thanks!

What a lovely image
of what might be Araneus marmoreus - Marbled Orb Weaver. Images in the guide here. Let's see what Don and Jeff say.

John
and Jane seem to be correct. The spider in the linked image might be a shamrock spider or a different variation of the marbled.

Dunno
Dunno what it is, but it's a dang nice shot.
