Spot-legged Meadow Katydid - Conocephalus stictomerus - female Spot-legged Meadow Katydid - Conocephalus stictomerus - female

once I read the original description, it was obvious
This is Conocephalus strictomerus.

Moved from Lesser Meadow Katydids.

This is not Orchelimum pulchellum,
but rather a species of Conocephalus. I'm not sure which one, but it seems to match rather closely one identified as C. aigialus at this web site. However, the allotype female specimen is quite different, and is more similar to the specimen already posted on BugGuide and tentatively identified as C. aigialus. It is possible that the female in your photo is even an unnamed species. It is also possible that the ovipositor is variable in length.

So, this is a confusing situation, and I'm not sure what to call this pretty Katydid.

Moved from Handsome Meadow Katydid.

Thanks!
