I believe I misclassified these "Hemipterans" back in 1971 as "Macroveliidae" - it was near the end of my Grateful Dead period.

I think you may have been right! Separated from Mesoveliidae by having closed cells in forewing and the pronotum projecting backwards as a lobe covering the scutellum. Hopefully Brady will know the species,

. . . just the standard I needed to separate these old California critters. This made my day! I have approximately 15 similar specimens from 4 or 5 different locations in California. As I reworked my Heteroptera drawers to conform to BG taxonomy, I got more and more confused. Many thanks!
