Hooded Owlet
Caterpillar of a Cucullia moth. These caterpillars feed on composite plants, which include dandelion. The white mass of foam at the left side of the photo belongs to a spittlebug nymph.

Stephen, do you know this caterpillar
Is it actually Cucullia intermedia as we have suggested? If so, we will move the images to the guide page. We have been confused by these guys for quite a while.

I must say that I'm uncertain...
This species is actually new to me, as I myself haven't yet encountered it in my area ... so as far as my research goes, it seems to me like this is likely Cucullia intermedia.
I guess the other way to confirm its identity is to somehow raise the caterpillar into a moth -- though others who tried this method seemed to have had little success with this apparently very aggressive crawler.
This is as far as I can get with this one ... I guess I'm a bit stumped as to what this larva truly truly is...
