Ticks?

Ticks?
Sitka County, Alaska, USA
September 16, 2012
We don't seem to have much in the way of ticks around here (it appears only three species have been reported from Southeast Alaska, a Ixodes angustus and two associated with birds), so I was a little surprised to see these tick-looking things on a squirrel. I'm not absolutely sure that's what they are, though.

Definitely ticks
But I don't think it will be possible to determine species. Genus is mostly likely Ixodes, but I can't see any solid evidence in any case.
