Trichochamaea rufosanguinea (on Rhodora) or T. kalmiae (on Kalmia)

Trichochamaea rufosanguinea (on Rhodora) or T. kalmiae (on Kalmia)
Hanwell, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
September 17, 2012
Size: 6-7mm
I found this tiny beetle in the Tower Lake bog on the 17th Sep. It was walking over moist sphagnum in a partially shaded area under some -- I think -- Kalmia, near a stunted spruce tree. This was the only image that turned out. The antennae are long, but you can't see that from the image. I sent the image to Reggie Webster, who said: "This is either Tricho[lo]chamaea rufosanguinea (on Rhodora) or T. kalmiae (on Kalmia). The two are hard to separate unless one has specimens to examine under a microscope. Having known host plant data is the best for separation, but one needs to collect adults during the spring or early summer when they are feeding." So, I'm placing this in Galerucini as it can't id'd further, except maybe by association. (The white branch obscuring the antennae is a branching lichen.)
