Erythemis simplicicollis - male

Erythemis simplicicollis - Male
St. Lucie County, Florida, USA
August 11, 2006
Dragonflies often follow me around, especially when I have a container of feeder flies.
This one kept flying into (not inside) the container trying to get to the flies. I felt bad and netted a bee fly for it. As I was kneeling, the pondhawk landed on my knee. I held the beefly by a wing a few inches from the pondhawks face, and it quickly flew over and grabbed it from me.
The pondhawk then flew to the nearest branch.
