Iridopsos fragilaria - Iridopsis fragilaria

Iridopsos fragilaria - Iridopsis fragilaria
Laguna Niguel, Orange County, California, USA
September 18, 2012
Size: 18mm
Initially submitted as Iridopsis clivinaria, but this submission record date extends beyond the flight date on the Moth Photographers Group for clivinaria, which has August as the late date. Powell and Opler have late flight date of July. In life, the bug had a lighter beige background color. The photo made this appear gray. Also size varies from Powell/Opler which lists 22-25mm for clivinaria.

Wonder if this is actually Iridopsis fragilaria

Compared to clivinaria, fragilaria is smaller (consistent with you image), and FW markings are slightly different - compare to single photo on BG, MPG, as well as several other photos on the internet (labeled Anacamptodes fragilaria).

Good suggestion
In addition to the size being right a previous verified submission to Butterflies and Moths of North America had a November flight date. I'll move this, open to further input.
