Size: 7.2mm

Moved
Moved from Bombardier Beetle.
Thanks Peter.

Brachinus rugipennis Chaudoir, 1868
Brachinus rugipennis Chaudoir, 1868
based on my microscopic examination of this female specimen which is now a photo-voucher in the P.W.Messer collection. Thanks Tom.

Range: spotty distribution in west, southeast, and northeast.
Compared to similar B cordicollis this species with proepipleura pubescent, shoulders somewhat sloped, metepisternum not entirely dark, elytral surface with fine short transverse rugae (wrinkles), and average body size probably smaller. This one measures ABL ~ 7.2 mm.

New to BugGuide and my reference collection!
