Uknown Katydid Species - Scudderia - male

Uknown Katydid Species - Scudderia - Male
Indian Creek Elementary, Marion, in prairie, Linn County, Iowa, USA
September 21, 2012
I was looking for katydids in a little prairie and located this guy by sound. If this helps in ID, he was making a series of short chirps three to four in a phrase I think. Please if you can, id to species. Thanks

if you collected it and the antenna is damaged,
there are clear glues that work well. Biological Supply companies (such as BioQuip) sell glues specifically for the purpose. You need a delicate touch to do antennae.

If it is alive - well - no.

Also, if you collected it, you can look at the male "terminalia" and figure out the species by comparing with other species found in your area (or take another photo and send it in to BugGuide). BugGuide and Singing Insects of North America are good resources for Katydids.

I suspect that this is Scudderia furcata

Thanks
Thanks for the info and id. I appreciate it.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

This is a male Katydid in the genus Scudderia,
but it's hard to be sure of the species without a better view of his rear end. Do have any photos from other angles? I can probably figure it out from what is showing, but it's a bit iffy.

Thanks
Thanks for the id.

no sorry
Sorry I don't have any other views. Do you know of any ways to repair damaged antennae? Also, would it be likely I find more of this species?
