Sidewalk Weevil - Sphenophorus parvulus

Sidewalk Weevil - Sphenophorus parvulus
Inn at Afton, Rockfish Gap, Nelson County, Virginia, USA
September 22, 2012
I only got off this one shot of this weevil before it wandered into the grass at the edge of the sidewalk it had been traversing; thankfully it's a decent enough one.

ID
Sphenophorus parvulus Gyllenhal One of many so called Sidewalk Weevils.

Thanks so much
for the verification! Are they called Sidewalk Weevils because that's where they hang out? Seems rather dangerous... :)

Moved tentatively; perfect shot, my friend.
it's quite uncommon that a sp. ID can be made in this genus based on a single image

Moved from Snout and Bark Beetles.

Oh!
Did I happen to catch some defining feature here?

like, all of them

Ha
happy accident! =)

le hasard ne favorise que les esprits préparés

Or
the quick trigger finger. ;-) I'm glad to have caught it; it's a handsome weevil.
